We believe a productivity app should help you, not study you. That principle drives every design decision in OxiTick.
1. Your data lives on your devices first. Every list, every note, every check mark is written to a local SQLite file on the device you use. The cloud is one place your data can be — never the only place.
2. Sync is a feature, not a leash. Use our cloud, run your own server, or stay completely offline. The app doesn’t degrade when you go without sync. It was built that way from day one.
3. Self-hosting is a download. One container. Your VPS, your home server, your air-gapped office. No sales call, no enterprise tier, no usage telemetry phoning home.
4. We don’t track you. No analytics SDK. No behavioral profiling. No third-party scripts. The marketing site you’re reading right now ships zero trackers — check the network tab.
5. You can leave at any time. Your tasks export to plain JSON. Your database is a single file you can copy. There’s no migration tool needed because there’s nothing to migrate away from. We hold nothing hostage.
Productivity is intimate. Your todo list is the closest thing to a snapshot of your week — what you’re working on, who you owe what, what you’re worried about, what you want to remember.
Treating that data as a corporate asset is a betrayal that the industry has normalized. We don’t think it has to be that way, so we built the alternative.
OxiTick is what we wanted to use ourselves. If it’s what you wanted too — welcome.
